Soon-Not-To-Be ‘Bachelor’ Jake Dances with the stars!

Submitted on March 4, 2010 No Comment

Audience all over the world were left surprised with the announcement that Jake Pavelka, who proposed to Vienna Girardi on the finale of Bachelor will be a part of this season’s line up of dancing with the stars which returns to ABC on the 22nd of March.

Dances With The Stars

The Bachelor star Melissa Rycroft who also appeared on and won Dancing with the Stars two seasons ago and which possibly resulted in her co-hosting the show along with Tom Bergeron was present during the casting announcement and the possibility of Melissa’s success having a bearing on this cast cannot be ruled out. The potential of a cross-over means that his supporters and fans will encourage this move like they did for his choice to propose to the tabloid-victim Vienna on the finale of Bachelor and hence follow him as he progresses through DWTS while his disheartened critics would tune in hoping to see him goof up publicly. For ABC’s viewer ratings, it’s a win both ways!

However, how this situation impacts Jake and the fans of DWTS show is the important question.

Jake obviously will get unbounded publicity from this announcement. However, it sends the wrong signal to the audience – this could well be interpreted as Jake preferring to spend more time practising with his dance partner Chelsie Hightower than with his to-be life partner Vienna. The question that will inevitably rise is whether Jake loves his fiancé more or being a celebrity.

And even if you’re a fan, and believe that learning to dance this way was Jake’s life dream, there’s always the counter-argument that there’s something called too much of a good thing!
